"I’m spiritual but not religious.”

The CNN Website had an article this past weekend about a trendy phrase people are using. It is “I’m spiritual but not religious.”  What they mean is that they have a personal spirituality but do not identify with any group, church, or denomination. However there is much danger in this. The Word of God knows nothing of lone Christianity but loving, caring, serving, and being supported by a Body of Believers. The problem with “I’m spiritual but not religious” is that people end up with a spirituality of their own making. There is no truth, no Bible, no authority, no demands, no “oughts.” It is just about what makes me feel good. It is about being in charge with no demands from outside. They claim to be in touch with God, but it is not the true God of the Bible. Most people end up with a spirituality that is a mixture of religious ideas from many faiths. They end up with a false feel good religion that is really a lie and a deception. Sadly most are self-deceived. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Him.
