New Year of 2008
As we begin a new year make sure you have taken time to pause and reaffirm your committment to follow Jesus, wherever He leads in the coming days ahead. We have started the new year at Riverside reflectiing on the two great commandments give by our Lord Jesus Christ that define who we are and what we are to be about. Do you know what they are?
They are the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. It is our desire at Riverside to glorify God by living out the Great Commandment and by fulfilling the Great Commission. Here they are:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength; Love your neighbour as yourself." Mark 12:30-31
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
If you are considering important matters - asking questions like, who am I? who is God? does He really care? what is the true meaning of our life on Earth? - please look at the page talking about the good news of a fulfilling spiritual journey that can be yours!
Kids Summer Fun!
The kids had a great time, especially in July, with 2 weeks of fun & games, learning & snacks! At the end of each week, parents were then invited to a program to see what their kids have been doing all week.
Vacation Bible School with CEF
The latter week was Vacation Bible School. Two young ladies from Child Evangelism Fellowship of Canada shared exciting stores with the kids that week, on top of the crafts and games.
High-Powered Soccer Camp!
Once again, High-Powered Soccer Camp was a great success. A ton of fun and learning was done by 30 kids! At the end of the week, there was an Awards Presentation and Super Sunday Sundae night. The kids all received awards for their work, learning and helpfulness during the week. They did a great job of telling what they learned about God, and then showed off their new soccer skills during a kids vs adult game of soccer.
2007 - New Starts!
New Website
We have moved our website to a new host and are currently rebuilding everything. Please be patient, we're not finished yet! If you have any suggestions or problems, please let us know.
The Lord is Risen!
The reason for every season is upon us once more.
"Good Friday" didn't seem like it at the time to His friends. But it was when Jesus paid for our sins by dying in our place on the cross of Calvary. He rose from the dead on the third day and proved His innocence, power and right to promise forgiveness.
Why does it make a difference?
The Apostle Paul said that "if Christ is not risen, your faith is in vain." Despite nearly 2000 years of efforts to ridicule, deny, debunk and ignore the resurrecton of Jesus... His return to life is attested by more people every year, including many of those attempting to "debunk" Him. Both in history and in lives today, the resurrection and power of Jesus is irrefutable.
Jesus predicted His own death and resurrection, proving He is who He claimed to be - the only true Lord and Saviour of the world. Jesus is the only one qualified, willing and able to clean the souls of everyone who come to Him for forgiveness.
Will you come to Him, today? If we can be of help, please let us know!
New Ministries
Pastor Dan Smith accepted a call to our church and began his ministry at Riverside in February. He and his wife Betty-Ann have settled in and started getting to know the congregation over the last few months. He and the Board are working to develop a strategy and plan for developing the leadership and ministry of Riverside Baptist. We request your prayers as we seek the Spirit's wisdom and a common sense of God's will for our community in the days ahead.
2006
Pastor Wayne Steps Down
As the year closes with Christmas and a new one begins, we say goodbye to Pastor Wayne and his wife Maureen as they leave to start their new house church ministry. While we will miss their constant presence with us, we are glad to know that God has great things in store as they move into a new phase of their lives.
Sunday School Picnic 2006!
Saturday, September 9th, at 1-4 p.m. everyone came to the church address for a great time of fellowship, food and fun, despite the occasional shower! In between the rain, people came in and out of the building, and had a great time together.
Grade 8 Graduation Dinner!
Parents and our Grade 8 graduates celebrated as they prepared to head into Grade 9. Some parents and high-school members prepared a great meal as well as giving a challenge and welcome to the new students.

Vaction Bible School
High Power Soccer Camp
A great group of 5 to 10 year-olds learned more about how to play soccer, having a fun time with other kids and learn about God as well. At the end of the week, parents and friends gathered for an awards presentation and some super "Sunday Sundaes" helped cool everyone off for the night.
The Lord is Risen!
Easter weekend is upon us, and we all need to deliberately pause in our busy schedules, to stop and listen to what God is saying to us today. His love and sacrifice of Himself on the cross, His resurrection in power, glory and promise, and His Spirit working in our lives today all should cause us to reflect upon His wonderful claim on us and and desire to see us love Him in return.
March Break!
With the March Break running from March 13-17, Riverside Baptist will be sponsoring our annual free skate at the arena in the Riverside Recreation and Memorial Centre. It is free for everyone who would like to join us from 1-3 pm, and we'll give you a hot chocolate to warm up as well!

Its a New Year - what are you going to do about it?
A fresh, new year is a good time for a fresh start on some good habits - you know, those things that you want to do, that you know you need to do, as well. There's always getting exercise, being nicer to people, paying your bills on time... Need some suggestions for your spiritual resolutions?
- How about...
- Having a regular "quiet time" each day with God. Spending time reading the Bible, praying, and listening to what He is trying to tell you - you may be suprised at what you learn.
- Attending a good church each Sunday to worship God with other believers. We all need the encouragement and support of others as well as learning from the knowledge of experienced Bible teachers.
- Getting involved. One of the best ways to be encouraged is to encourage others and to learn, is to teach others. Its amazing how much an adult can learn from kids!
- Attend a week-day program. There are events for all ages most weeks, with frequent "fun" events, as well a more spiritual focus such as Bible studies and prayer groups.
Sunday School Picnic
This year we went to Camp Gesswood, just outside of Windsor. There were games, great food, and we even had the use of the pool - great to cool off in on a hot summer day!
Mother's Day
It was Mother's Day on May 8th this year, and once again, the ladies were honoured by presenting with a fresh flower after the service. Mother's Day continued with the Ladies Ministry Annual Mother & Daughter Tea, held Monday, May 16, 2005 at 7:00pm at the church. Speaker, teacher and published writer, Mrs. Nancy Little, returned as guest speaker for the evening.
